Scripture: John 14:8–14
We live in a world that demands visibility. We crave something tangible—proof we can see, hear, and touch.
Even as believers, we sometimes echo Philip’s plea in John 14:8:
“Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
But Jesus’ reply is both tender and astonishing:
“Whoever has seen Me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)
That one sentence reshapes everything.
Jesus is not merely a prophet who speaks on behalf of God—He is the One who reveals God fully.
“No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, He has made Him known.” (John 1:18)
Jesus is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of His nature (Hebrews 1:3). His words (John 12:49), His works (John 10:38), and His entire earthly ministry are the clearest picture of the Father humanity has ever received.
To see the Son is to see the Father—not just His power, but His heart.
Not just His majesty, but His mercy.
Jesus invites His disciples (and us) to believe in two things:
His oneness with the Father (“I am in the Father and the Father is in Me” – John 14:10–11),
and
His works as evidence of divine presence and authority.
And if we do? We don’t just receive comfort—we receive a calling.
“Whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do…” (John 14:12)
Through His return to the Father (John 14:12, 17:5), and the sending of the Spirit (John 16:7), we are empowered to continue Christ’s mission—preaching the gospel, making disciples, proclaiming truth in dark places.
We participate in the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21: “that they may all be one… so that the world may believe that you have sent Me.”
Let Christ redefine how you see God.
You don’t need to guess what God is like. Look to Jesus. In His compassion, His holiness, His justice—you see the Father clearly.
Believe in the unity of the Son and the Father.
Jesus is not a lesser reflection—He is the perfect revelation. He does nothing apart from the Father (John 5:19).
Step into the “greater works.”
The power of Christ continues through His people. His resurrection and ascension unleashed the global spread of the gospel.
Pray in His name—with bold expectation.
To pray in Jesus’ name isn’t just adding a phrase—it’s aligning your will with His. And He promises: “Whatever you ask in My name, I will do.” (John 14:13)
You don’t need more signs—you need clearer sight.
Jesus is the revelation. He is the invitation. And He is the One who now calls you to believe, to pray, and to serve in His name.
When you’ve seen the Son, you’ve seen the Father.
And when you believe in Him, He continues His work through you.
