The Betrayal
In the darkness of Gethsemane, betrayal unfolds—but not as a tragedy outside of control.
In this passage, we witness one of the most sobering and sacred moments in all of Scripture: Jesus is betrayed by one of His own, arrested by a crowd, abandoned by His disciples… and yet, He stands in complete authority over it all.
This is not the story of a helpless victim.
This is the revelation of a sovereign Savior.
From Judas’ kiss to Peter’s sword, from the divine “I AM” declaration to the cup of wrath, Jesus shows us that every detail is unfolding according to the Father’s will—for the salvation of sinners.
And in the midst of human failure, His faithfulness shines all the brighter.
👉 In this sermon, we see:
- The devastating reality of betrayal from within
- The divine authority of Christ revealed in the “I AM”
- The Shepherd who protects His sheep—even when they fail
- The Savior who willingly drinks the cup of God’s wrath
- The sobering weakness of the disciples—and our own hearts
- The unshakable assurance of Christ’s grip on His people
👉 What this means for you:
- Examine whether your relationship with Christ is real—not just external
- Recognize that sin is not just failure—it is betrayal of the One who loves you
- Trust God’s sovereignty even in moments of confusion, suffering, and injustice
- Take deep comfort that your salvation rests not on your faithfulness—but on Christ’s.
Even when His disciples fled…
He did not fail.
Even when they abandoned Him…
He went to the cross for them.
And if you belong to Him—He will never lose you.
