Behold the “Man,” Behold the “King”
In this week’s message, we enter into one of the most sobering moments in John’s Gospel: the trial of Jesus before Pilate. What begins as a political game becomes the stage where the mockery, rejection, and condemnation of men reveal the kingship, majesty, and sovereignty of Christ.
Pilate thinks he controls Jesus’ fate, but Jesus declares that all authority is given from above. The priests pledge allegiance to Caesar, rejecting their true King. The soldiers mock with thorns and robe, not realizing they are coronating the Son of God.
Through this passage, we are confronted with the piercing question that echoed in Pilate’s hall and still echoes today: What will you do with Jesus?
