God has entrusted us with something infinitely more valuable than grades, careers, or earthly success: children with eternal souls.

In Deuteronomy 6:4–9, Moses shows us God’s design for passing the truth to the next generation. It begins with knowing and loving God ourselves, continues through faithful discipleship in the home, fills the ordinary rhythms of everyday life, and is strengthened by a community of faithful voices in the church and Christian education.

In this special School Dedication Sunday message, Pastor Sebastian examines the distinct but complementary responsibilities of parents, the local church, and Christian school in raising children who know the truth of God. Christian parents cannot outsource discipleship, the church surrounds families with a chorus of faithful voices, and Christian education provides another opportunity to teach children to see every part of life as belonging to Christ.

Yet none of these things can save a child. Parents cannot give their children new hearts. Teachers cannot make them spiritually alive. A church or Christian school cannot cause the new birth. Salvation belongs to the Lord.

Our calling is to faithfully teach, model, discipline, pray, correct, encourage, open the Scriptures, and give our children the gospel again and again—and then ask God to do what only He can do.

For the next generation, may we give them His truth, may we give them our lives, and may God graciously give them more Christ.
