Paradise Lost
Human history changed forever in a garden.
Genesis 3 records the darkest chapter in the opening pages of Scripture. The serpent enters paradise and launches his attack not through violence, but through deception. He causes humanity to question God’s Word, distrust God’s goodness, and seek God’s place.
What began with a simple question—”Did God actually say?”—ultimately resulted in sin, shame, death, and the loss of paradise itself.
In this message, we examine Satan’s strategy, Eve’s temptation, Adam’s silence, and the devastating consequences of humanity’s first act of rebellion. Yet even in the darkness of Eden, the hope of redemption begins to shine, as Scripture points us to the greater Adam—Jesus Christ, the snake-crushing Savior who came to restore what the first Adam lost.
In this message:
🔹 The entrance of the serpent into God’s perfect creation.
🔹 How Satan attacks God’s Word and God’s goodness.
🔹 Why temptation always begins with distorted views of God.
🔹 Adam’s failure as covenant head and guardian.
🔹 The true nature of sin as seeking God’s place.
🔹 The entrance of shame, guilt, and death into the world.
🔹 Humanity’s futile attempts to cover sin with fig leaves.
🔹 The hope found in the greater Adam, Jesus Christ.
Sin entered the world when humanity doubted God’s Word, distrusted God’s goodness, and sought God’s place. The serpent still whispers the same lies today, but the gospel reminds us that the story of Eden does not end in defeat. The Savior has come to crush the serpent, cover our shame, and restore what was lost.
