The Cross | Luke 23:1–49
Good Friday is good because Sunday is coming. Good Friday is good because despite the depravity and evil which was displayed by humanity who sentenced the only innocent and sinless man who ever lived to die, he laid down his life willingly as part of his and the Father’s plan from eternity to rescue sinners from their sin.
On the cross, God’s eternal justice collided with his infinite love for sinners in the person of his Son, Jesus, who took the weight of the world’s sin upon himself, satisfied the fury of God’s judgment against sin, and gave to all those who trust only in him, his perfect righteousness that they might be forgiven and reconciled to God.
That is why this darkest Friday in human history is good – because through the darkness of the world’s sin against him, the light of the power of his perfect life/death shone through to save and secure everyone who believes in him, forever.
