The Ordinary Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We often think the Holy Spirit’s power is found only in signs and wonders — in prophecy, tongues, or miraculous healings. But Scripture teaches something far richer and more accessible: the Spirit is just as gloriously at work through the “ordinary” gifts given to every believer for the building up of the church.
In this message, Pastor Sebastian Petz walks through Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter 4 to show how the Spirit equips every Christian with gifts — not for personal status or spiritual spectacle, but for edification, unity, and maturity in Christ. From teaching and leadership, to hospitality and mercy, these grace-gifts are the Spirit’s way of glorifying Christ through the everyday obedience of the church.
No believer is left out. No gift is second class. If you’re in Christ, you’re called and gifted — and the church needs you.
📖 Key Texts: Romans 12:3–8, 1 Corinthians 12:4–27, Ephesians 4:11–16, 1 Peter 4:10–11
📌 Main Idea: The Spirit’s power is not in the spectacular, but in the “ordinary.”
🛠️ Application: Don’t envy gifts you weren’t given. Don’t neglect the ones you were. Steward them to build the body and glorify Christ.
