The Flood of Judgement & The Ark of Grace
The account of Noah and the flood is far more than a familiar children’s story about animals entering an ark two by two. It is one of the clearest demonstrations in all of Scripture of both the holiness of God and the grace of God. As humanity plunged deeper into violence, corruption, and rebellion, the Lord determined to judge the world with a catastrophic flood. Yet before His judgment fell, He graciously provided one righteous man, one ark, and one way of salvation.
In Genesis 6:9β7:24, we discover that Noah’s life was marked by faith, obedience, and perseverance in the midst of an unbelieving generation. While the world ignored God’s warnings, Noah trusted the Lord’s Word and obeyed Him, even when obedience appeared foolish. Every strike of Noah’s hammer proclaimed the same message for decades: judgment is coming, but there is still time to enter the ark.
Ultimately, the ark itself points beyond Noah to Jesus Christ. Just as there was only one ark that could save those who entered it from God’s judgment, so there is only one Savior through whom sinners can be rescued from the wrath to come. God’s patience is astonishing, but it is not endless. The invitation of the gospel remains open today, yet Scripture reminds us that the day is coming when the door of grace will finally close.
This passage calls every one of us to stop trusting in the false refuges of this world and to take refuge in Christ alone. The same God who judged the world in Noah’s day has also provided the only secure place of salvation through His Son. While there is still time, come to Christ by faith and find safety in the One who bore God’s judgment so that all who trust in Him might never perish.
In this message:
π Why God sent the worldwide flood upon humanity
π€ Why Noah was called a righteous manβand what that really means
π οΈ The significance of Noah’s obedient faith in an unbelieving world
πͺ Why God Himself shut the door of the ark
βοΈ What the flood teaches us about God’s holiness, justice, and patience
βοΈ How the ark points directly to Jesus Christ as our only refuge
π Why today is the day to respond to God’s gracious invitation
The flood stands as an enduring testimony that God always keeps His Word. His promises of salvation are certain, and so are His warnings of judgment. Yet the greatest truth of this passage is that before judgment came, God made a way of escape. That way has always pointed to Jesus Christβthe greater Noah, the perfectly righteous One, and the only refuge for sinners. Come to Him while the door of grace remains open.
